Owners' Counsel of America member Edward McKirdy represents the property owner in this legal battle.  Mr. McKirdy is quoted in the Courier News article:

"For many people, their land is their savings account, their pension plan," said Edward D. McKirdy, the Morristown attorney who filed the amicus brief. "What the Highlands Act tries to do is take your property; you have residual use, title to the land and the right to pay taxes on it, but it actually has a significant value that's gone. And you have to accept that for the common good.

"This is a burden that should fall on the community as a whole," he added. "That's what the just compensation clause (of the U.S. Constitution) is for."
