SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA - The American Law Institute and American Bar Association (ALI-ABA) hosted the 25th annual "Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation" seminar January 3-5, 2008. This continuing legal education course was co-chaired by OCA members and ALI-ABA faculty Leslie A. Fields and Joseph T. Waldo. The faculty also included OCA members Michael M. Berger, Dana Berliner, Andrew P. Brigham, Edward G. Burg, James S. Burling, Warren C. Herlong, Jr., Gideon Kanner, John W. Little, III, James D. Masterman, Edward D. McKirdy, H. Dixon Montague, Michael Rikon, Mark D. Savin, and Jack R. Sperber. The Silver Anniversary conference was dedicated to the memory of Sidney Z. Searles, a founding chair of the course and prominent author and lecturer.
"Condemnation 101: Fundamentals of Condemnation Law and Land Valuation," co-chaired by OCA members Andrew P. Brigham and Jack R. Sperber, ran concurrently. The Condemnation 101 course featured OCA members Keith M. Babcock, Michael M. Berger, Edward G. Burg, James S. Burling, Dennis J. Dunphy, Leslie A. Fields, Jill S. Gelineau, Warren C. Herlong, Jr., John W. Little, III, Alan H. Marcuvitz, James D. Masterman, Charles L. Ruffin, Mark D. Savin, Paul R. Scott, and Joseph T. Waldo. Condemnation 101 offered an introduction to the fundamentals of condemnation litigation including the stages of an eminent domain case, basic rules and necessary tools.
